EOI/2012/001 - CA
This Expression of Interest (EOI) is seeking responses from qualified parties to supply an adaptable linear accelerator for medical radiation research.
To be eligible to obtain the EOI documents the Confidentiality Agreement - under Pre-Qualifications - must be completed and returned via the 'Pre-Qualification' function
This EOI is to obtain the components to create a new radiotherapy system, called Nano-X. The Nano-X system has two goals:
1. To serve as a prototype for an image guided, small footprint, cost effective cancer radiotherapy system for dissemination to rural and space-limiting urban settings as well as developing countries. The world need for increased radiotherapy services is clear: an evidence-based analysis states that the optimal utilization rate of radiotherapy is 52.3%. Developed countries have suboptimal utilization rates of between 30-40% whilst in developing countries, the situation is critical with utilization rates between 0-25%.
2. To act as a unique dedicated and configurable research platform for the Australian scientific community and international collaborators including the following funded programs:
a. An international collaboration focusing on real-time tumour targeting and dynamic multileaf collimator-based adaptation centred in Sydney.
b. A productive collaboration exploring EPID design improvements for combined imaging and dosimetry during radiotherapy
c. An internationally renowned and incredibly successful detector design, fabrication and translation program, particularly for MOSFET and silicon strip detectors
d. A comprehensive gel dosimetry research program
e. An emerging program quantifying the fundamental biological response to radiation
