Design, Construct and Supply of a Pilot Transfer Vessel

Geraldton Port Authority (GPA) supplies port services for the export of grains, minerals and livestock; imports fertiliser and fuels; it accommodates cruise ships and oil and gas industry vessels. Geraldton Port has seven berths, ranging from 50 metres to 225 metres and accommodates drafts up to 12.4 metres at zero tide and maximum cargo capacity of 60,000 tonnes.

To meet the growing needs of the Port, GPA will replace the ageing Pilot Vessel Jorgensen, now twenty-five-years-old, with a new, more efficient vessel using current technology and design that will be better suited to meet its increasing service delivery requirements.

GPA is seeking an experienced and competent contractor who is able to design, construct and supply a 16 to 20 metre Pilot Transfer Vessel. The vessel will operate within the Geraldton Port Region of the Mid West Coast of Western Australia. The specifications detailing the performance and general characteristics of the mono-hulled Pilot Vessel that the GPA requires to carry out the services of the Pilot Transfer Vessel, are provided in Schedule B of this Request.

The vessel is to comply with all relevant sections of the Western Australian Marine Act 1982, as amended, the National Standards for Commercial Vessels and the Uniform Shipping Law Code 1993 as amended, as they apply to a class 2B vessel operating up to 200 nautical miles from the mainland coast of Western Australia.

The vessel will operate with a crew of two persons and up to four special personnel aboard.

Registration is required no later than 4.00pm 15 October 2012 via the RFT Process Manager.
